Seven days from today, Apple’s iPhone will reportedly be available for purchase across the USA. According to at least one mobile pundit the cell phone industry will be forever changed on the fateful day of the iPhone’s release.
With that in mind, here is a round-up of the most notable iPhone hysterics currently on the web…
Maybe it’s because we’ve played second fiddle to Microsoft Windows for so long, but for whatever the reason we Mac zealots love our precious Apple gear so much that we’ll even cobble together our own television commercials from other sources. The one above is my current favourite.
Despite trying to paint a grim picture of a Rock Star CEO poised on the brink of possible failure, New York Magazine’s John Heilemann gushes so much over Apple CEO Steve Jobs that after reading the first few pages you’ll might find yourself wanting to alert the Cupertino police to a possible stalker!
Leave it to The Onion to shine a pointed mirror upon the ravenous, slobbering hordes of the Apple fanboy kingdom. Now where can I get me one of those hats?
And finally, the question I know all of you out there are asking:
Am I gonna get one?
Yeah, probably… Although my experience with the HTC TyTN and its touchscreen aren’t too far off from the point being made in the video above.
Okay one last link, this one for Canadians, who likely won’t get to use the iPhone on the Robbers wireless network until sometime next year (if we’re lucky): It’s iPhoney, the iPhone simulator — for Macs only, of course…

Does this mean prices for other devices will come down? Treo treo?
AC:
I can’t remember any other cell phone generating this much hype, so clearly Apple’s PR dept has done its Job well (pun intended). I think we’ll see the current multi-function gear come down in price (like red-laser DVDs), but competitors will come up with their own flashy new gear to compete against Apple.
Mac people, FYI about the 10.4.10 update –Intel people are reporting problems with it, so you may not want to install it until the problem is fixed…
Ed
Ray, the price of the Treo may not come down, but expect its UI to improve dramatically in order to compete — even before its launch the iPhone already has Nokia changing their tune about touchscreen technology:

And Ed, thanks for the tip about 10.4.10, although you could have told me in person in a couple of hours…
