… To me. 😕
The Powerbook I got myself last year is turning out to be the gift that just keeps on giving—giving me grief!
You may remember that this machine came out of the box with dead pixels on its screen. Well, after noticing some general pokiness Monday night, I ran an overnight diagnostic on it and woke up Tuesday morning to a hard drive that wouldn’t boot! And this barely two weeks after the expiration of my standard Apple warranty. Co-inky-dink?
Fortunately the good people at Computer Systems Centre came to the rescue, confirming my fears and installing a new drive in the same day. Unfortunately I had paid for my Powerbook using VISA instead of AMEX, and the former doesn’t double the manufacturer’s warranty like the latter does.
So $500 later I once again have a working Powerbook with an extra 20 Gigabytes of hard drive space. So much for my Heart & Stroke donation this year…
