Faced with a nine-hour stopover at Heathrow, I opted instead to throw my hideous backpack into a locker and take the tube downtown. And after giving up on hopelessly vague directions to where Ray and friends were brunching, I opted to visit the London Eye instead.
The last surviving attraction from London’s millennium celebrations, the Eye was doing pretty brisk business on the day I visited. The sunny day didn’t hurt.
Why ride an oversized ferris wheel on the wrong side of the Thames? Why, to get an aerial view of Big Ben, of course!
