After faithfully observing the sacrifices of generations past this morning, I can now pass on some embarrassing news from earlier in the week. It seems that the Royal Canadian Legion thinks it holds some kind copyright over digital representations of the poppy pins they sell each Remembrance Day, and delivered a cease and desist order to Ottawa über-blogger Pierre Bourque.
If that were the case, they should attach a EULA to each and every poppy they sell. Hopefully the Legion will learn from their mistake. As for the bad press, I think that on this of all days they can probably recover from it!
